What can be done to address the need for affordable and accessible housing for older adults?

The need for affordable and accessible housing for older adults is only going to grow in the years to come. We must act now to ensure that all older adults have a safe and comfortable place to call home. According to JCHS, Over the next decade, the US population over the age of 75 will increase by 45 percent, from 17 million to nearly 25 million. As the population of older adults grows, so too does the demand for housing that is both affordable and able to accommodate our changing needs.  The delta between supply and demand here is compounded given that many older adults are on fixed incomes and struggle to keep up with rising rent or mortgage payments and supportive services that can help them stay independent and in their own homes, such as meal delivery, transportation, and personal care.
