Social Security, healthcare, housing, and the economy are key concerns for older adults and topics of conversation at many kitchen tables across Rhode Island. The Senior Agenda Coalition’s 16th Annual Conference & Expo, themed A Bridge to a Secure Future, will provide expert insights and resources to help older adults and their families navigate these important issues.

This year’s event will be held on October 9, 2024, from 7:30 AM to 12 noon at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI. Breakfast and networking will kick off at 7:30 AM, featuring dozens of exhibitors showcasing services and resources focused on older adults.

United States Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, will provide an update from Washington, DC, on programs that directly impact older adults and adults with disabilities in Rhode Island, including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and housing policy. The conference will also feature a distinguished panel of speakers, including:

  • Congressman Seth Magaziner, discussing the economics of aging and its effects on the local and national economy.
  • Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha, providing insights into the state of healthcare in Rhode Island, particularly for older adults.
  • Julie Leddy, President of the Public Housing Authorities of Rhode Island (PHARI) and Executive Director of the Coventry Housing Authority, highlighting both successes and challenges in creating more housing opportunities for older adults.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with these speakers during a robust Q&A session, ensuring that critical questions on Social Security, healthcare, housing, and economic security are addressed.
