AARP’s 2025 Community Challenge Grant Program Application Now Open

The AARP Community Challenge grant program has announced its 2025 funding cycle, offering communities across America the opportunity to create positive change for residents of all ages. Since its inception in 2017, this impactful initiative has invested over $20.1 million through more than 1,700 grants, supporting projects in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The 2025 program offers three distinct funding opportunities:
- Flagship Grants
- Capacity-Building Microgrants
- Demonstration Grants
The submission deadline is March 5, 2025, at 5 p.m. ET. Selected grantees will be notified in May, with a public announcement following on June 25. All projects must be completed by December 15, with final reports due December 31, 2025.
As part of AARP’s Livable Communities initiative, these grants help communities implement quick-action projects that spark long-term progress. The program specifically targets improvements that make communities more livable for people of all ages, fostering immediate positive change while laying the groundwork for sustained development.
