Introducing RIPTA’s Flex On-Demand Pilot Program

Rhode Island’s public transit system is taking a bold step forward with the introduction of the Flex On-Demand Pilot Program. Designed to bring greater flexibility, convenience, and accessibility to public transportation, this innovative service offers a new way to navigate select areas in our state.

What is Flex On-Demand?

The Flex On-Demand service allows passengers to book a ride on a RIPTA vehicle in real-time, much like popular ride-hailing services. This program, currently in its pilot phase, is designed to provide on-demand transportation within specific zones. Whether you’re commuting to work, running errands, or simply exploring the area, Flex On-Demand offers a seamless and adaptable travel experience.

How Does It Work?

Using the Flex On-Demand app, passengers can request a ride from their current location to their destination within the service zone. The app will match you with a nearby RIPTA vehicle, and you’ll be on your way in no time. The service operates with the same reliability as traditional RIPTA routes but with the added benefit of personalized pick-ups and drop-offs.
