Older adults face continuing economic insecurity
A new report from the Gerontology Institute at UMass Boston shows that many older adults, especially those living alone, don’t have enough money to meet their basic needs as they age. The report uses a measure called the Elder IndexTM to estimate the income needed for adults aged 65 or older to live independently. The report finds that half of older adults living alone in the United States and one out of five older couples do not have enough money to cover their basic needs. This puts them at risk of economic insecurity. Learn more about the findings of the report and Index HERE
