Pairing Medical Professionals with Consumer Advocates a Winning Combination in Rhode Island
As we pursue more “age-friendly” health systems, an article by Maureen Maigret, Policy Consultant to Age-Friendly RI, was published in the December issue of the Rhode Island Medical Journal. The article examines the translatable success of a Community Catalyst Geriatrics Provider Collaboration program (funded by the John A. Hartford Foundation) that paired geriatrics experts with consumer advocates to promote a person-centered lens for the state’s Integrated Care Initiative – its demonstration for dual eligible individuals. The study found that this partnership was successful in incorporating geriatrics principles of care into the demonstration’s policy framework and contract provisions.
