Pawtucket Becomes Rhode Island’s Newest Age-Friendly Community
We are honored to receive a Certificate of Special Recognition from Congressman Gabe Amo for our partnership in launching Age-Friendly Pawtucket. This recognition underscores the city’s commitment to building a community where residents of all ages can thrive.
As Herb Weiss reported in RINewsToday, Pawtucket formally joined the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities last week at the Leon Mathieu Senior Center. With this step, Pawtucket joins Newport, Cranston, Providence, Westerly, and Bristol in Rhode Island’s growing Age-Friendly Network, signaling a strong commitment to healthy aging and livability for all.
The Age-Friendly Network engages older adults and caregivers in shaping priorities around walkable streets, housing, transportation, access to services, and opportunities for civic and community participation. Age-Friendly Rhode Island is proud to support Pawtucket’s leadership and residents as they embark on this important journey.
We are grateful to be part of this work, and inspired by the city’s leadership in advancing age-friendly initiatives that will benefit generations to come. Read Herb Weiss’s full coverage here:
