Rhode Island Coalition for Elder Justice Marks Key Milestones in New Annual Report

The Rhode Island Coalition for Elder Justice (RICEJ) marked several key milestones in its 2024 Annual Report. The organization formalized its nonprofit status as a 501(c)(3), launched the Rhode to Justice webinar series, aired a public service announcement during World Abuse Awareness Month, and distributed a reporting protocol on abuse and neglect to more than 700 community members. RICEJ also expanded its network through new partnerships and community outreach. With only 1 in 10 cases of abuse involving older adults ever reported, the Coalition’s efforts to expand awareness and improve reporting pathways are critical to addressing this widespread but often hidden issue

This month, the Coalition held its first statewide conference. The event featured presentations, panel discussions, and resource-sharing sessions led by legal professionals, advocates, and community leaders. Topics included guardianship reform, decision-making tools, and practical approaches to recognizing and addressing abuse.
