Kingston Free Library is offering a series of Healthy Living Workshops
The Kingston Free Library is offering a series of healthy aging seminars to support older Rhode Islanders. The six-module “Tools for Healthy Living” program co-sponsored in collaboration with the University of Rhode Island’s Geriatric Education Center helps participants learn strategies and cultivate skills to better manage their health and well-being. Thus far, the program has engaged with about 15 people ranging from 55 to 75 years old in the first two sessions. Workshops are facilitated by two RICEG provided instructors and cover a range of topics that can increase longevity, cut health-care costs and produce more satisfactory living as we age. The session topics are:
- Improving Sleep and Managing Symptoms
- Problem Solving and Understanding Emotions
- Managing Pain and Increasing Physical Activity
- Improving Communication and Eating Healthier
- Managing Medications and Making Informed Treatment Decisions
- Weight Management and Goal Setting

The next “Tools for Healthy Living” workshop is planned to be held at the Langworthy Public Library and will run every Tuesday from March 24 – April 28, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
