Event Notification: “Harvesting Hope” Southside Community Land Trust Annual Fundraiser
Southside Community Land Trust (SCLT) serves people in economically challenged urban neighborhoods where fresh produce is scarce and who, as a result, are at risk for life-threatening, diet-related, chronic diseases. They have been instrumental in creating a more equitable local food system for 36 years by:
- educating people about diet and nutrition, agriculture and the environment
- building and managing community gardens and farms
- providing low-cost agricultural resources and support to community gardeners
- training beginning farmers and enabling them to sell their produce to members of their communities
Harvesting Hope is SCLT’s annual fall fundraiser, this year held on Thursday, October 3, at the Squantum Association in Riverside, RI. Guests will sample dishes prepared by renowned chefs made with produce grown by SCLT-supported farmers. The event brings together their members, donors, community gardeners, urban farmers, health advocates, and foodies for a beautiful evening. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the end of the growing season, and progress made towards improving our local food system so that it serves all Rhode Islanders. This year will feature a carefully curated silent auction, delicious small plates accompanied by distinctive wines, a signature cocktail, and more.
Tickets go on sale August 19 and can be purchased HERE. For questions about donations or sponsorship, please contact Shana Santow via shana@southsideclt.org
