New Podcast Positive Aging with Patricia Raskin Empowers, Educates, and Uplifts Active Agers

Local, National Experts on Aging Among Guests Announced

She can’t turn back the clock or change anyone’s age, but Patricia Raskin – award-winning radio and podcast host and producer – will introduce her audience to those who hold the keys to positive aging. It’s all coming up in her new podcast, Positive Aging with Patricia Raskin, produced by Rhode Island PBS. The 13-week podcast premieres Tuesday, September 20 on most popular podcast apps.

“With so many misperceptions about aging today, Positive Aging with Patricia Raskin presents timely information needed by our aging population,” said David W. Piccerelli, president of WSBE Rhode Island PBS. “We are so pleased to have a host such as Patricia to lead these important discussions. Her experience and interview style will help our audience understand and overcome age stereotypes and break down barriers to active, healthy aging.”

A trailblazer in the digital age of Internet radio and podcasts, Ms. Raskin has hosted and produced positive media programs for four decades. She is also author of two books on self-development and the benefits of finding balance in life. Although the podcast will be available nationally, Rhode Island PBS recognized the local needs of the state’s own aging population. According to government census projections, the segment of Rhode Islanders 65 and older is expected to grow fastest of all age groups over the next 10 years. Guided by its mission to help build a better and stronger community through education and civic engagement, Rhode Island PBS moved to produce a relevant, accessible program addressing issues of aging, and invited Patricia Raskin to host and co-produce the series.

“I am so thrilled to present this podcast through Rhode Island PBS,” said Ms. Raskin. “In addition to the tremendous and loyal viewers of Rhode Island PBS, the podcast has global reach and the guests are a mix of local, regional, national and international talent.” She added, “We interview nationally-recognized authors, experts, and celebrities who share the latest in research, and facts to support healthy, active, and happy lifestyles of older adults.”

Ms. Raskin’s first guest on September 20 will be Kelly Hannon, senior columnist for Yahoo Finance and author of In Control at 50+: How to Succeed in the New World of Work. Kerry Hannon, a workplace futurist, leading authority and strategist advises older adults how to navigate the employment market with confidence. The second episode on September 27 features Jeff Weiss, president and CEO of Age of Majority, a research-driven marketing consultancy. Weiss observes a disproportionate gap in how marketers perceive, portray, and engage today’s mature consumers.

On October 4, Patricia’s guest will be Vijay Vad, MD, co-author of the updated book Back RX: A Proven Integrative Program for Staying Pain Free. Dr. Vad is a sports medicine physician at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, and is on the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College. Their discussion will focus on relief of back pain, joint pain, arthritis, and related conditions using a clinically proven mind-body regimen to reduce pain and painkiller usage. Additional guests in upcoming weeks include Dr. Michael Roizen, author of four #1 New York Times best-selling books, who discusses his new book, The Great Age Reboot, Cracking the Longevity Code for a Younger Tomorrow; Arielle Ford, author of 11 books including The Soulmate Secret; Ted Fischer, co-founder and CEO of Ageless Innovation, a Rhode Island based company; Jeff Massey, CFP® and host of “Massey on Money” radio show; Roger Landry, MD, author of Live Long Die Short: A Guide to Authentic Health and Successful Aging.
