Age-Friendly Rhode Island Receives $330,000 Grant to Support Communities Statewide
AFRI Point32Health Foundation Grant Press Release 07_23_2026
Rhode Island’s support for its older residents is about to get a boost
“We are deeply grateful to the Point32Health Foundation for its investment in Age-Friendly Rhode Island and the communities we serve. Across the state, local leaders, residents, and organizations are working together to create communities that support people throughout every stage of life. This funding will help us expand that work, strengthen local partnerships, and support communities as they respond to the opportunities and challenges of an aging population.” James B. Connell, Executive Director
Age-Friendly Rhode Island has received a $330,000, three-year grant from Point32Health Foundation to help cities and towns across Rhode Island continue building age-friendly initiatives: local planning, cross-sector partnerships, and community-driven programs that make neighborhoods better places to grow older in.
Rhode Island already has real momentum on this front. More than half of the state’s cities and towns, from Providence to some of its smallest communities, are working with Age-Friendly Rhode Island on local age-friendly planning: things like accessible housing, transportation, and services that let residents stay in their communities as they age. This new grant will help deepen those local partnerships and bring more towns into the network.
The grant is part of a broader round of investments from Point32Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan.
