AFRI announces that Virtual Community Center is open and ready to welcome visitors!

Age-Friendly RI is pleased to announce that Rhode Island’s new Virtual Community Center is open and ready to welcome visitors!  Please see the attached flyer to learn all about the VCC!

The VCC offers a full schedule of free online activities and events to look forward to every day when in-person experiences aren’t possible.  We hope they will help keep Rhode Islanders’ bodies healthy, minds sharp and spirits high during this time of pandemic and beyond, when we’re staying close to home and limiting our contact with others, and when many of the places we normally go are closed.

We are pleased to be able to support and complement the wonderful network of senior centers and their participants with this virtual programming.  We hope this will also be a welcome resource for people who live in settings where visitors are restricted and communal spaces are off-limits.  We encourage nursing homes, assisted livings, and adult day health centers when at all possible to support residents and clients, especially those without access to the internet or devices, in connecting with VCC programming.  There is something for everyone at the VCC!

Please share this flyer broadly to your networks, and don’t hesitate to get in touch with us with any questions about the VCC or suggestions for programming that you might have.  Our goal is to ensure the VCC meets the diverse needs and appeals to the diverse interests of Rhode Island’s older adults and to foster the joy and connection that we all need right now.

We would like to thank the Tufts Health Plan Foundation for their generous support and our many community partners as well in bringing the VCC to life.

See you at the VCC!
